From Long-Distance to Full-Time RV Living: A Couple's Journey

John and Angela's relationship began three hours apart, with John situated in the southwest corner of Vermont, and Angela in Northern NH, approximately 45 minutes from the Canadian border. Although initially uninterested in a committed relationship, they both felt a special connection. John was still serving in the National Guard and working full-time and raising his youngest child, while Angela was raising her children and working as Realtor ® . However, they made a commitment to see one another once a month. As veterans of long-distance travel, they spent four years shuttling back and forth until they could live together.

After John's time in the Army, he shared Angela's love for travel and longed to visit all the baseball stadiums across the country. They started their journey by camping out on their pontoon boat, but the travel bug hit Angela hard in 2020. When she suggested buying an RV, John was skeptical at first, but she convinced him that it would be the ideal temporary "camp" until they could build the one they envisioned.

In January 2021, John and Angela began their full-time RV living journey, downsizing from their 3500 square foot home to a modest 380 square feet. They planned to use John's GI Bill to attend the NRVTA in Athens, TX, but the acceptance was delayed. They volunteered in a state park in Texas but still needed to earn more money to pay for the inspection course. They decided to work as security guards in the oil fields and, by fall 2023, the NRVTA is now able to accept the GI Bill.

Their journey led them to start a mobile RV inspection business, which took them on a six-month road trip. However, they learned that the business required them to stay in one place for an extended period.

John was offered a TA Position at the National RV Training Academy and worked there helping others to learn how to repair and maintain RVs.  And for the holiday's we wanted to be near family.

After spending a few months in El Paso visiting family we have decided to find a home base somewhere between Nashville TN and Huntsville Alabama.

If you have a spot we should check out please let us know.

The first part of 2025 we will be making our way to the general area.
